Logitech Harmony 1000 Advanced Remote

“The latest and most intelligent evolution of simple, one-touch control.”

Logitech has come out with a new Universal remote that appears to be a promisting solution to the complexity of the modern home entertainment system. It has the ability to control your HDTV, adjust aspect ratios, or change sound mounds. There are no complicated macros to program. You program the device using your computer and following a setup wizard that connects to an online database of over 150,000 devices and updated daily. Just press the icon for the activity ie “watch tv” or “watch DVD” and it automatically turns on the appropriate devices and adjusts the inputs accordingly. With more home automation, this remote can dim your lights, turn on the TV, turn on the Tivo, and start a program. This promises to be an excellent remote for the home-automation aficianado or anyone that is sick and tired of countless remotes and universal remotes that don’t have every function. How many universal remotes have you seen that let you adjust your aspect ratio for example?

The remote can transmits both infrared and radio frequency so you can control equipment even from another room (may need rf range extender). It has a sleek brushed metal case and is visually appealing.

MSRP: $499.00 The lowest I’ve seen online is $468, but this company offers volume pricing if you can convince some friends to get one also. Currently they are out of stock.
