OK Today Apple announced the long-rumored iPhone!
A couple of things:
- This phone is sweetness. 3.5″ screen running OSX variant!
- I bought some Apple options this morning before the announcement but didn’t capitalize. Will explain further down.
My stock option fiasco. I purchased 3 options. 2 Jan 90 @ 2.10, and 1 Jan 95 @.91
Now the fiasco part. I put in stop-losses on these options of around 15% to sell just in case the announcements weren’t as exciting as what the street was expecting. During the keynote the options dipped hit my stop-loss and sold. I lost around $30 only because it bounced back up quickly. Now the seller’s remorse. All the options were up around 70-80% after the announcement of guess what - the iPhone.
Apple has once again done what they do best, design and bring excellent usability to a product category they had no prior experience in. This phone is going to be a blockbuster.
Interesting sidenotes:
- iPhone was actually trademarked by Cisco for a VOIP product. Looks like Apple bought the rights to use iPhone.
- The Apple TV is not called iTV. To me this suggests leaving the door open to an apple-branded IP TV network?

Nightline said that they would be talking to Jobs on Tues. night’s show. ABC, 11:35 PM
