According to an Arstechnica article:
“FBR Research believes that the suppliers for the major components in the iPhone will be:
- Samsung Electronics for the CPU/Video processing
- Marvell for the 802.11 chipset
- Infineon Technologies for baseband communications
- Broadcomm Corp. for the touch screen controllers
- Cambridge Silicon Radio for the Bluetooth chipset”
Of these, I would probably pick up some Marvell (MRVL). It has been trading sideways for sometime, but as more details about the innards of this phone come out, it will bring some attention to the company. Morgan Stanley already has an analysis out on the contribution an iPhone contract could mean:
Morgan Securities analyst Craig Berger estimates the iPhone business could make a sizable contribution to Marvell’s 2007 results.
“It is widely rumored among investors that Marvell’s 802.11 (b or g) chip(s) will be used in the iPhone,” Berger wrote in a note to investors. “With chip content of roughly $4 per chip in 2007, we expect that the iPhone could contribute $36 million in revenue, or 2 cents to 2007 earnings per share.”
That would be about 3.7% on top of its current EPS. This stock should get out of its sideways trading and bring some profit. You want to open your positions before the actual launch to fully capitalize. Once more and more articles get published the stock will see movement to the upside.
