Google Maps shows real-time traffic data
I just went to Google Maps today and discovered a new button – TRAFFIC. Google Maps now shows real-time information about traffic for many US cities. To see this, switch to the map or hybrid views and click on the new traffic tab. A new layer will appear that color-codes the traffic according to how fast traffic is moving.
- Green: > 50 miles per hour
- Yellow: 25 – 50 miles per hour
- Red: < 25 miles per hour
- Gray: no data available

I’ve been using the traffic feature on the mobile version of Google Maps on my phone for over a month now:

Yeah I heard about that, but it doesn’t work on my Treo 650
(I think they started with the mobile, then rolled it out to the public. If you find any way to run it on a Treo 650 (Palm), let me know and I’ll update the post.
