2008 Presidential Election Research: Ron Paul

I recently came across my first banner ad for the 2008 Presidential election. It made me go uggggh. I then went on to see the Republican debates on YouTube. One guy stood out amongst them all to me – Ron Paul. He seems to have a firm grasp of what freedom means. He is also a Dr. For some reason I have an affinity for Dr.’s in politics. Perhaps it is the fact that they aren’t lawyers. Another Dr. I supported in the past was Howard Dean. Dean had great ideas for reforming healthcare in America and did a great job of reform in his state. I have not read all of Ron Paul’s positions yet, but I have no doubt that Mr. Paul may also have some great ideas of his own to reform healthcare.

I have my own theory as to why healthcare never gets meaningful reform. The most obvious is that the medical industry and the lawyers have the highest number of lobbyists in Congress. The second is that the President/Congress may not earn as much as the medical profession, but the positions have good health benefits. It is hard to relate with the average American’s healthcare issues when you have a lifetime health plan with $0 copays. I bet our congressmen don’t have to use Meds by Mail to reduce their pharmacy tab.

Please note: I am presenting people as I research them. I am in no way endorsing nor disparaging this candidate.
